Overview
Aristotle, the bearded sage in a toga, came up with the notion that we operate by our five senses--taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing. Humans employed these senses all along, but it wasn't until Aristotle said something to the effect of, Hey, wait a minute, I just realized something that one more discovery was made about the human species. The pigeon, sensing that I offered no handouts, lifted his Buddha-body into the air and went to pester a nanny at another bench. His departure allowed me to close my eyes, sigh at my good luck to have a Saturday to myself, and reflect, Now where was I? Oh, yes, old London. I imagined the Thames River, the sun filtered by clouds over this river, and moored ships anchored at wharves. Sniffing, I employed one of my more acute senses.
