Overview
In this chapter, we present a synthesis of the state of knowledge about emulating natural disturbance in northern North America and provide a view of the future of this forest management approach. We summarize the information presented in the other chapters of this book to describe what natural disturbance emulation is, why one might do it, methods of understanding natural disturbance, and practical approaches to implementing this concept.
