Overview
منذ أن اكتشفها فلندرز بتري عام ١٨٩٦ ولوحة نصر مرنبتاح كانت ولا تزال موضوعاً للعديد من الأبحاث لورود كلمة \"إسرائيل\" في السطر السابع والعشرين من الكتابة المنقوشة عليها. وقد عمل معظم الباحثين ما وسعهم على إنطاق النص بما يتوافق والخلفية التوراتية محاولين تأويله في ضوئها إن من حيث تأريخه أو مضمونه أو بنيته اللغوية بهدف إثبات كيان إسرائيل وماهيته ووجوده وعلاقته بغيره من المسميات الواردة في النص. يهدف هذا البحث بعد عرض موجز للآراء، إلى محاولة قراءة السطور (26- 28) من النص، كتابة ولغة ومضموناً في ضوء اللغة المصرية القديمة وخلفيتها التاريخية.
