Overview
تختزل مرحلة خلافة على مجمل ما أحاط بشخصيته. فقد انعكست العلامات الكبرى لهذه الشخصية على المشهدين السياسي والاجتماعي للإسلام والمسلمين في طور تبلور الرؤى في فهم الدين وكيفية تصريف هذا الفهم في إدارة السلطة وتنظيم شؤون مجتمع كان يومها يتشكل في دائرة هذا الفهم. فانقسم المسلمون تبعا لمواقف على من الخلافة والخليفة إلى خطين متوازيين ومتفاعلين بأساليب دموية سبق خلالها السيف العقل، فكان عمق صراع الخطين اجتماعي لكن أخذ مظهرا سياسيا/ دينيا (مذهبا). فالعودة إلى تفاصيل قيام هذين الخطين تخول متابعة تطور كامل المسارين السياسيين والمذهبين اللذان سيجسمان علامات التمييز والاختلاف بين الدولتين الأموية والعباسية وسائر البلدان التابعة لهما شرقا وغربا في القرون الأولى بعد ظهور الإسلام.
