ينشد هذا البحث دراسة الانتماء إلى المكان في مقدمة القصيدة الأموية، والانتماء علاقة تتسم بالتداخل والاندماج بين الشاعر والمكان، ما يدل على قوة الحضور المكاني في ذات الشاعر على وفق أبعاده المختلفة. وقد تجلت علاقة الانتماء إلى المكان في الشعر الأموي في مظاهر مختلفة، وصور متعددة؛ منها مقدمات القصائد التي كانت في كثير من جوانبها تجسيدا لتجارب الشعراء، بما فيها من الأمل والبعد والفراق وهاجس العودة...إلخ؛ ذلك أن الانتماء إلى المكان ليس انتماء إلى مجال طبيعي وحسب، ولكنه -أيضا -انتماء إلى مجال اجتماعي؛ بما فيه من عادات وتقاليد، فالمكان والأفراد الذين يتفاعلون معه، يمثلون وحدة متكاملة، ينتمي إليها الشاعر، ويشعر في ظلها بالألفة والحماية والأمان.
