Overview
جاء هذا الاستطلاع في إطار الجهود المبذولة لتوسيع البحث الأثري في مناطق جديدة من السودان، بما في ذلك مواقع جبال النوبة التي يتمركز جبل دميك في أوسطها. وقد جاء هذا العمل عرضيا في شهر ديسمبر من العام 2019م، نتيجة للملاحظة التي قادت إلى تحديد العديد من المكونات الأثرية البارزة، حيث يعتبر تركيز بقايا مواد معينة مثل المساكن الحجرية وأماكن التخزين \"السويبة\" وأدوات الطحن والمقابر، مؤشرات قوية على استمرارية السكن وتعقيده. في حين أظهرت نتائج هذا الاستطلاع أهمية دور الظروف الطبوغرافية في تحديد استيطان الإنسان في هذا الإقليم، وفي تشكيل ثقافته المادية.
