Wisdom and Family Cohesion as Predictors of Moral Integrity Among a Sample of Saudi University Students

Overview
Little empirical evidence exists on the relationships between wisdom and moral integrity and family cohesion and moral integrity. This study examined these relationships in the context of Saudi Arabia. A sample of 741 university students (Mean age = 21.3, SD = 1.97; 66% female) participated in the study and completed the Integrity Scale, the Abbreviated 3-D Wisdom Scale, and the Family Cohesion subscale of the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale, third edition. Two models of multiple regression were analyzed and the results suggested a positive relationship between affective wisdom, reflective wisdom, and total score of wisdom and moral integrity, accounting for sample characteristics, and a slight positive correlation between family cohesion and moral integrity, although family cohesion failed to predict moral integrity in the regression analysis. Interventions and training to enhance wisdom and family cohesion and thereby moral integrity should be carried out in the context of the family.
