Overview

The Arabian Gulf is considered one of the most crowded seas, where a very high number of commercial ships and tankers are trading it. Further, because the Arabian Gulf is semi enclosed area, it was classified as a sensitive and polluted water. This study aims to introduce international treaties that are concerned with protecting the marine environment from pollution resulting from oil tankers. This study was divided into five sections: First, the laws concerned with the safety system in ships are discussed in this article. Secondly, the requirements that must be followed regarding the efficiency of the marine crew is covered. Third, the administrative departments of marine companies and establishments (such as ports) will be addressed. Fourth, International treaties concerning the civil liability compensation for marine pollution resulting from oil tankers is brought up in this article. The last part is devoted to detailing the importance of ratifying the relevant treaties and their scopes in protection of the environment. This study deals with the best practical to adopt, implement and enforce such treaties into the Kuwaiti legal system (maritime and environmental related laws). This study follows the academic research methodology.
