تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى بيان منهج العوتبي في تعيين المشكل وصياغته، واستنباط أهم مسالكه في رفع الإشكال عن الآيات القرآنية، وأهم ما خلصت إليه هو اعتماد العوتبي في توجيه المشكل على مصادر محددة، منوعا في النقل، ومختارا ما يراه راجحا، كما كشفت الدراسة أن من أهم مسالكه في رفع الإشكال الاستشهاد بآيات القرآن وأقوال الصحابة والتابعين ومعهود العرب في الخطاب، معتمدا قواعد تفسيرية تم بيانها في هذه الدراسة.
