سعى المقال الحالي لدراسة دور القارئ ورؤيته وتوظيفه للمنتج الثقافي، مهتما تحديدا بجهود الباحثة الأمريكية \"جانيس رادواي\" JANICE RADWAY، في إطار رؤيتها التي تتواشج وتترابط مع جهود ما يعرف في الأدبيات بالدراسات الثقافية. ولذلك ينقسم المقال لثلاثة أجزاء، يركز المؤلف في جزأيه الأولين على التعريف بالدراسات الثقافية، ورؤيتها للجمهور وتحليلها له، فيما يهتم الجزء الأكبر، وهو الجزء الثالث بالطرح الذي تقدمه جانيس رادواي، بالتركيز على واحد من أهم أعمالها وهو كتابها \"قراءة الرواية الرومانسية: النساء، والأبوية والأدب الشعبي\".
