تروم هذه المقالة الحديث عن علم من علوم القرآن المهمة، وهو علم الوجوه والنظائر الذي يشهد على إعجاز القرآن من الناحية اللغوية، حيث إن ألفاظ القرآن الكريم قد تنصرف إلى عشرين وجها أو أقل أو أكثر، وهو غير معهود في كلام البشر، هذه الألفاظ التي تختلف معانيها من آية إلى أخرى حسب السياق تحتاج إلى فهم واستيعاب كبيرين لأنه بدون ذلك فإن من يخوض في ترجمة معاني القرآن الكريم بدون الإحاطة بها سيعطينا ترجمة غير سليمة، كما هو الشأن بالنسبة لترجمة جاك بيرك للفظ \"الرحمة\"، وهو ما سنبينه من خلال الأمثلة التي ساقها في ترجمته.
