Overview
منذ فجر التاريخ تناولت كتابات وأفكار ومناقشات المفكرين في العالم الديمقراطية، ماهية الديمقراطية؟ علاقة الديمقراطية بالعدالة والحرية والمساواة، وبالتنظيم النيابي والاجتماعي بتعدد الجمعيات والأحزاب السياسية وغيرها، وهو ما فتح الباب أمام تعريف واسع يسمح بتطور أفكار ورؤى ونماذج لا حصر لها. وإجمالا يمكن القول بأن الشعوب قد قطعت شوطاً طويلاً من النضال والصراع الطويل القاسي من أجل الديمقراطية حتى وصلت إلى ما وصلت إليه الآن، من تطوير وتعديل واختيار دساتير وأنظمة حكم ملائمة تتناسب وتطلعاتها وأمالها، وقد حققت الديمقراطية انتصارات هامة في العقد الأخير من القرن العشرين، حتى بدت النظم السياسية المختلفة عاجزة عن تجاهل الضغوط من أجل بناء نظم ديمقراطية.
