اعتمدنا في بحثنا هذا على ثلاث وثائق تاريخية أخذت من الأرشيف الروسي الحكومي التأريخي في (سانت بطرسبرج) الوثيقة الأولى المؤرخة عام 1905م تقع في 38 صفحة وعنوانها: \" قوانين وشروط حج المسلمين إلى مكة المكرمة والمدينة المنورة\"، وتحتوي على معلومات مهمة ولكن أغلبها ذو طابع سلبي، وهي على شكل تقرير مفصل عن موعد وصول الحجاج المسلمين إلى مكة المكرمة، وعن طريق سيرهم عبر المدينة المنورة وينبع وكذلك طريق عودتهم إلى بلادهم، وعن الأخطار التي يتعرضون لها وهم بطريقهم إلى مكة المكرمة وبالعكس من قتل ونهب وسلب واعتداءات وغيرها من المخاطر. وعن ظلم وجور السلطات العثمانية وكيف كانت تضع مصالحها الشخصية فوق مصالح الحجاج.
