تناولت هذه الدراسة حياة سبط ابن الجوزي، وتكوين سيرته الثقافية والعلمية، وشيوخه وتلامذته، ومجالسه، وأبرز إنجازاته العلمية، ومشاركته في الحملات العسكرية ضد الصليبيين. وبينت الدراسة رحلاته إلى حلب ودمشق والكرك ومصر والحجاز، وجهوده في الوعظ والإرشاد والحث على الجهاد في سبيل الله لمقاومة الغزو الصليبي؛ الأمر الذي جعله يحظى بمكانة مرقوقة عند أفراد الأسرة الأيوبية وأهالي الشام ومصر، جعلت منه مؤرخا أسهم في رصد الأحداث والوقائع التاريخية بمنهجية وأسلوب يبدو واضحا في تاريخه للحروب الصليبية من خلال كتابه \" مرآة الزمان\".
