تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى التعريف بنموذج النحو الوظيفي أو ما أطلق عليه آخرون \"نظرية النحو الوظيفي\"، وهو نموذج إشتغل عليه الباحث المغربي \"أحمد المتوكل\"، وتجلى هذه في جملة المؤلفات التي ألفها هذا الباحث, والتي حاول من خلالها أن يقدم هذه النظرية للقارئ العربي من خلال ترجمة مصطلحاتها ومفاهيمها إلى العربية، وشرح كيفية اشتغال هذا النموذج، وتبيان مدى إمكانية تطبيقه على اللغة العربية.
