Overview
علي كمال روائي وصحفي وسياسي تركي من أبرز المفكرين والأدباء في الأدب التركي الحديث، نفي إلى حلب عام 1889م وأعدم ميدانياً بسبب مواقفه السياسة عام 1922م. أقام علي كمال في ولاية حلب ست سنوات، عمل خلالها في وظائف مختلفة، وكتب في تلك الفترة روايتين تدور أحداثهما في سورية. أتيحت له فرصة التعرف على الولاية ومناطقها المختلفة، وأعطى حيزاً لا بأس به لولاية حلب في مؤلفاته، ولا سيما في مذكراته ورواياته. قدم الكاتب معلومات قيمة تسلط الضوء على الحياة السياسية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية والثقافية لولاية حلب في العقد الأخير من القرن التاسع عشر. تحدث عن الإيجابيات التي رآها في الولاية ولم يهمل ذكر سلبياتها، كما أورد بعض الحكاية الغريبة المتعلقة بأهلها.
