Overview
Smoking is a public health problem that concerns all of society. Passive smoking can have significant effects on the health of mother and child. In Algeria, 30% of women whose husbands smoke die of lung cancer and 25% of children (An Algerian two smokes, 2011) whose parents smoke suffer from respiratory diseases. Tobacco consumption has tripled in Algeria since 1978 and half of smokers under 27. Some studies that have been made in Algeria (Merkouche, 2006 Dahoumane, 2009 and Abdelkrim, 2015) have demonstrated the role of passive smoking as morbidity and mortality risk factor. Tobacco use is not declining despite all the damage it causes on the consumer and his entourage. In this context and given the high prevalence of smoking in Algeria, this article proposes to explain the role of communicative approach to the impact of environmental tobacco smoke on health from the results of smoking empirical studies.
