Overview
تقع مدينة أبذة في المنطقة الوسطى من الأندلس، وهي من أعمال كورة جيان، وعلى نهر الوادي الكبير إلى الشرق من قرطبة، فتحها المسلمون سنة 92ه / 710م وسكنتها عشيرة بني يعمر العربية الشامية، ودام الحكم الإسلامي لها أكثر من خمسة قرون. شهدت المدينة أحداثا مهمة منها ثورة ابن حفصون فكانت المدينة مسرحا لأحداثها حوالي ثلاثين عاما، ومنذ القرن السادس الهجري / الثاني عشر الميلادي تحولت منطقتها إلى حدود ثغريه فتعرضت للعديد من الهجمات التي قام بها النصارى، ومما مهد السبيل لاستيلائهم عليها حدوث العديد من الثورات فيها مثل ثورة بني مردنيش وصهرهم ابن همشك وأخيرا حركة البياسي الموحدي الذي ضمها إلى نفوذه، وهو ما أضعف قوة المسلمين بها ومهد لسقوطها بعد أن أبادوا أهلها
