Overview
This abstract presents a study on the use of velocity and tethered swimming tests for the evaluation and control of training in swimming teams. The methodology involved five students from the University of Porto, who performed two protocols: maximum velocity test with a velocity meter and maximum effort test in tethered swimming. The results showed that swimmers of different levels exhibited distinct curves in both tests. The higher-level swimmer demonstrated a more linear subaquatic path and more consistent and homogeneous cycles, while the lower-level swimmer showed greater variation in velocity and force. The table presented the minimum and maximum values for velocity and force variables, which served as reference for comparing individual swimmers' performance. The study highlights the importance of these tests in assessing and adjusting training processes.
