الكتابة عن عباس لغرور، مثل الكتابة عن رفيقه عاجل عجول، صعبة وهذه الصعوبة جعلتني أخطط وأعيد التخطيط مرات عديدة، وتمكنت من ذلك بصعوبة، وبعد اتصالات عديدة، وبحث كبير. إن عباس لغرور رجل فوق العادة؛ فهو متدين حتى النخاع، وكان ذلك أحد أسباب تفرده عن غيره، مقدام لا يهاب .. حاولت البحث في أسباب هذا التدين فسأل أخاه صالحا، وأحد أعمامه، فأجابوني : ربما يعود ذلك إلى تواجد بيت والده الريفي على الطريق الرابط بين الشرق والغرب، الذين يؤدون فريضتهم مشيا على الأقدام، حيث كان والده يستضيفهم، سواء كانوا ذاهبين أو عائدين. وأن والده لم يكن متدينا، ولم يكن له أي تأثير في تدين ولده، حاولت أن أعرف سبب بطولته وإقدامه، فقيل إنه من عرش عرف بالبطولة منذ قدم التاريخ.
