تتناول رواية (تاييس) لأناتول فرانس الآتي (حدث يوما أن فكر كعادته في ما مضى من حياته بعيدا عن الله، وعرض خطاياه الواحدة تلو الأخرى ليدرك شناعتها. فتذكر أ،ه رأى منذ بضع سنين في ملعب الإسكندرية ممثلة ساحرة الجمال تدعى \"تاييس\". كانت تمثل في الألعاب أدوارا شتى. ولم تكن تتحرج من رقص يثير في النفس بحركاته أقوى الشهوات. ويعرض نفس الروائي لأشنع الرغبات. وتبدو في مشاهد مخجلة، مما ألصقه الكافرون بالزهرة وليدا باسيفة، فكانت تشعل نيران الشهوة في جميع المشاهدين. وكان يختلف إليها الشبان المدلهون والشيوخ الأغنياء المغرمون، يعلقون أكاليل الزهر ببابها، فكانت ترحب بهم وتنيلهم منها ما يشتهون. فأضاعت بضياع نفسها نفوسا أخرى عديدة)
