قضية هذه الرواية تهم العالم بدرجات متفاوتة، وعلى وجه الخصوص البلدان العربية. يعالج إسماعيل كاداريه موضوع الثار بأسلوب لا يقوم على الحبكة وتشويق أحداث الحكاية فحسب، وإنما الأهم هو تشريحه لخريطة الثار بأسلوب نفسي يقودنا عبر ثلاث رحلات رحلة نفسية في أعماق أبطاله ورحلة جغرافية تنعكس طبيعتها في طبائع الناس، ثم رحلة تاريخية، يفند فيها تاريخ الثأر وكيف تحول إلى مشروع رابح ومسرحية الممثلون فيها شعب غارق في الدماء بأكمله. وفي هذا الجو ثمة متسع للحب، حين يقع جيورج في الحب أخيرا ومن أول نظرة يجد ما يستحق أن يحيا من أجله، فهل سينقذه الحب وتستثنيه آلة الموت ؟.
