يتحدث الكتاب عن أفلاطون واحد من أشهر الفلاسفة فى تاريخ البشرية، فكان له أفكار غيرت العالم، على الرغم أنه عاش فى عصر ما قبل الميلاد. أفلاطون، أسمه الحقيقى \"ارستوكليس بن ارستون\" ولد فى أثينا أو أجانيطس\" وهى جزيرة قبالة ساحل أتيكا فى باليونان، فكان إبن عائلة أرستقراطية عريقة كان لها دور فى المجتمع اليونانى، ولم يعرف أحد تاريخ ولادته بالتحديد، فبعض الأقاويل تؤكد أنه ولد سنة 427 ق.م. أفلاطون هو فيلسوف يونانى كلاسيكى، رياضياتى، كاتب لعدد من الحوارات الفلسفية، ويعتبر مؤسس لأكاديمية أثينا، وهو أول معهد للتعليم العالى فى العالم الغربى.
