هذا الكتاب دراسة موجزة ومكثفة عن أحد رجال الفكر والعلم والأدب في تاريخ التراث العربي : يلقي الضوء حى بيئته وأبرز معالم حياته، ويعرض لأهم وجوه إبداعاته ومنجزاته، وهو أبو بكر بن طفيل الأندلسي الذي اقترن اسمه في الأندلس والمغرب العربي وفي بلاد المشرق العربي والإسلامي باسم رواية فلسفية بديعة عنوانها : (حي بن يقظان). ولم يتوقف تقدير هذا المبدع على الزمان الذي عاش فيه بل تجاوزه متوصلا إلى العصر الحديث.
