يبين كتاب \"نصوص من أجاريت\"، لمؤلفه الدكتور علي أبو عساف، أن العلماء انكبوا على دراسة النصوص الأوجاريتية، فوجدوا أنها دينية، أدبية وشعرية، كنعانية الأصل والمنشأ، واختلفوا في تفسير الكثير من معانيها ومفرداتها، وفي تحديد صيغتها الصرفية، والآن، وبعد مرور أكثر من خمسين عاما، لا نزال، كما يوضح الكاتب، بحاجة إلى المزيد من البحث في معاني الكثير من مفرداتها وجملها، لذلك اعتمد في هذه الدراسة، حسب ما يشير، على النصوص الأصلية، ليقدم لنا دراسة تساعد على إجلاء معنى كثير من المفردات.
