يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى رصد ظاهرة الفقر الحضري بإعتبارها نتاج ظواهر اجتماعية واقتصادية وبالتالي التعرف إلى واقع الفقر الحضري في مدينة \"الرياض\" السعودية من خلال معرفة العوامل الطاردة والجاذبة التي تدفع بالفقراء إلى الهجرة من مناطقهم الأصلية وإنجذابهم إلى الأحياء الشعبية في مدينة \"الرياض\"، كما يهدف الكتاب إلى معرفة العلاقة بين الخصائص الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والمستوى الاقتصادي لسكان هذه الأحياء الشعبية ومدى مساهمتها في إنتشار الفقر الحضري في تلك الأحياء.
