يقع هذا الكتاب في سبعة فصول، حيث تضمن الفصل الأول : مجموعة من التعاريف الأساسية التي لا بد منها وتم التطرق إلى فرضيات شكل الأرض وواحدات القياس المستخدمة في المساحة. وعرض الفصل الثاني : مبادئ نظرية الأخطاء ونظرية التربيعات الصغرى وأنواع القياسات ودقتها، أما الفصل الثالث : فقد خصص لدراسة الأجهزة المساحية المستخدمة لقياس المسافات والاتجاهات الأفقية والزوايا الشاقولية وفرق الارتفاعات وأجهزة قياس المساحات. تضمن الفصل الرابع : قياس المسافات والطرق المتبعة في ذلك، وكذلك إرجاع المسافات المقاصة إلى سطح الجيوئيد، أما في الفصل الخامس : فقد تم عرض الأعمال المساحية الإرتفاعية وحساب وتعديل مسارات وشبكات التسوية وتم التطرق إلى مفهوم العدد الوزني وخصوصيته، والتسوية الدقيقة والعالية الدقة.
