للكتاب هدف شخصي، هو أن أشعر فيما بيني وبين نفسي براحة الضمير، وأن أتخفف من وطأة الشعور بالذنب! وليس كالإعتراف الصادق، ما يطهر النفس ويريحها... ويخفف من عذابها... وأن يفتح عيون الناس على حقائق الديكتاتورية، فلا يخدعهم بعد اليوم عبد الناصر، ولا الطامحون بأن يلعبوا دوره... ذلك أن النظام الديكتاتوري الفردي، شر في أفضل حالاته، لا يأتي منه خير، ولا يجلب لشعبه إلا الخراب والدمار، ولا يخلف وراءه إلا الكارثة... وسوء السمعة... وسواء أكان على رأس مثل هذا النظام عبد الناصر، أم غير عبد الناصر... فالشر واحد فيه... والموقف منه لا يتبدل.
