\"معجم الفولكلور\" فرضت طبيعة الموضوع أن أجمع في هذا المعجم كل ما استطعت الحصول عليه من المواد الفولكلورية المشهورة في ربوع العالم المأثورة في مصر والعالم العربي والتي حفرت لها مكانا في ذاكرة الشعوب وما سجله المؤرخون في الحضارات القديمة والوسطى والمعاصرة ولا يدعي أحد أن القيام بمعجم خاص بالفولكلور مهمة سهلة وإن المصطلحات مرنة تتشكل مدلولاتها وهي تختلف بإختلاف البيئات والأجيال.
