\"ينقل الطبائع والعادات التي سادت في العصر الذي كتب عنه (هوميريوس)، أكثر مما نقل عن العصر الذي عاش فيه، لذا فهو يتحدث عن شخصية (السنتور) الخرافية، المزيج بين الإنسان والحصان، لكنه يمتد مع التاريخ في تمجيد الأبطال، وتقديمه ظروفا مثيرة كثيرة لميتات المقاتلين، وحين ينقلنا إلى مواطنهم الأصلية، ومساقط رؤوسهم، لكي نرى أحزان آبائهم العجائز وقنوط أراملهم ودموعهن، أو ظروف الحرمان والفقدان التي يعيش فيها أيتامهم. لقد أبدع (هوميريوس)، فنيا في مواجهة الأبطال، حتى لأنه يسمو بشخصية أحدهم، موازنة ببطل آخر، فيتجاوز به حدود القدرة البشرية، ليناقش به الآلهة، ف(ديوميدس) ينزج في القتال في كل موقع، ويقتل خصمه في كل مكان، ويقارنه بالأبطال. بانداروس، وهيكتور، ومن الآلهة يقارنه ب(فينوس، وأبولو، ومارس) علما أن البسالة عند الشاعر كانت تخضع لمقاسات المنطق والعقل، وذلك ما هو كائن في إبداع الإغريق الأوائل\"
