The Role of Social Media Campaigns in Supporting the SDG of Women's Empowerment
2023
This study explores the role of social media campaigns in supporting Sustainable Development Goal 5, which focuses on women's empowerment, through an empirical and analytical investigation of campaigns addressing women's issues in Egypt and the Arab region. A descriptive-analytical method was applied, utilizing surveys, interviews, and content analysis of campaigns conducted on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Findings reveal that digital campaigns contributed significantly to raising awareness about gender equality, promoting women's rights, and stimulating public debate on sensitive issues such as domestic violence and harassment. Results also show that the most effective campaigns combined impactful visual messages with interactive content that encouraged women's direct participation. The study highlights that young people, particularly those aged 18 to 30, were the most engaged with these campaigns, with women showing greater responsiveness than men. Additionally, campaigns supported by NGOs and international organizations achieved wider reach and stronger impact compared to individual initiatives. However, the study also identified challenges, including the short-lived influence of some campaigns and the difficulty of translating online engagement into tangible policy changes or shifts in social behavior. The research concludes that social media campaigns are powerful tools for advancing women's empowerment but require more sustainable strategies and closer integration with governmental and legislative efforts to secure lasting outcomes. The Impact of Cyberbullying on Private High School Teenagers in Cairo Governorate
2020
This study examines the phenomenon of cyberbullying and its impact on private high school students in Cairo Governorate. Using a descriptive-analytical method, the research investigates the prevalence of cyberbullying and its psychological, social, and educational consequences. The findings reveal that the rapid growth of communication technologies and the widespread use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok have increased teenagers' exposure to online harassment, including harmful messages, humiliating comments, unauthorized photo sharing, and impersonation. Results indicate that cyberbullying has severe effects, including depression, isolation, low self-esteem, poor academic performance, delinquent behavior, and in extreme cases, suicidal thoughts. The study highlights the defining features of cyberbullying-repetition, power imbalance, and intent to harm-which make its psychological impact more profound than traditional bullying. Based on surveys and interviews, the research found that a significant proportion of students had experienced different forms of cyberbullying through social media, chat rooms, and online games. The study concludes that cyberbullying poses a major educational and social challenge requiring urgent intervention from families, schools, and policymakers. Raising awareness, promoting safe digital practices, and enforcing protective regulations are essential to safeguarding teenagers from these risks. Abstract Written by Dar AlMandumh, 2025, Using AI

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI or GAI) is a sub category of artificial intelligence that uses its capabilities to generate photos, text, animated GIF, 3D images, voice, and any type of media. There are many applications that are web-based, open sources, and downloadable that help in this function. So, this paper is mainly exploring in a practical observation and group trials some generative AI tools and their impact on media production and storytelling. This study shed the light on the future of media production regarding social media platform analytics, AI applications, newsroom and journalistic media production, and Algorithm curation. It aims to compare between the algorithm bias of media production and storytelling from an actual data processing of three AI-powered web-based platforms storynest.ai, charism.ai. and deepai.org. The research study depends on qualitative comparative analysis of the last three Al-powered web- based applications with textual story and visual attachment as unit of comparison. The aim behind choosing those three apps. is the far differentiation between the function of each one when talking about generative artificial intelligence. The study concluded that Internet algorithms use what users feed the search bar with, and the fact that AI can control the users' preferences is a myth; because simply digital platforms create the content that users request.

This research examines how Egyptian, Ethiopian, and Sudanese online newspapers covered the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), focusing on how national interests were reflected in their media discourse. The study underscores the Nile's central importance as a vital resource for all three countries: Egypt depends on it for more than 95% of its fresh water; Ethiopia views the dam as a symbol of sovereignty and economic development; and Sudan perceives it as both an agricultural opportunity and a potential risk. Using a comparative analytical method, the authors analyzed newspaper content between 2018 and 2019, with attention to the language and framing of coverage. Findings revealed that Egyptian newspapers emphasized water security threats and advocated diplomatic and negotiated solutions, while Ethiopian newspapers highlighted themes of development and sovereign rights over natural resources. Sudanese coverage, however, displayed fluctuation-sometimes aligning with Egypt's concerns over water shortages, and at other times stressing the economic benefits Sudan could reap from the dam. The study concludes that the media coverage was far from neutral, instead strongly reflecting each country's political, economic, and national priorities, thereby confirming the role of media as an extension of state interests in this strategic conflict.
