Modeling Corporate Citizenship and Its Relationship with Organizational Citizenship Behaviors
2010
Citizenship, such as corporate citizenship and organizational citizenship, has been an important issue in business management for decades. This study proposes a research model from the perspectives of social identity and resource allocation, by examining the influence of corporate citizenship on organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs). In the model, OCBs are positively influenced by perceived legal citizenship and perceived ethical citizenship, while negatively influenced by perceived discretionary citizenship. Empirical testing using a survey of personnel from 18 large firms confirms most of our hypothesized effects. Theoretical and managerial implications of our findings are discussed.

The 12-year Basic Education, which is a revolutionary policy on education, plays a pivotal role in how students feel disturbed in school because of the different systems of admission. To tackle this topic, this study surveyed 16,921 students from the \"Taiwan Upper Secondary Database (TUSD)\" and compared exam-free admission as well as recommendation and screening-based admission with propensity score matching (PSM). Results revealed that the students of recommendation and screening-based admission have more difficulty in efficacious learning than those of exam-free admission. The former performs poorly in academic subjects while displaying special talents in the subjects of skills. Hence, once they enter academic and vocational high schools, they feel disturbed because their schools increase the ratio of academic subjects. The differences between the two groups of students in their difficulty in learning and the reasons for the difficulty are worthy of attention. On the one hand, junior high schools should pro

The 12-Year Basic Education was an important educational reform policy in Taiwan. The major aim of this study is to explore the effects of Coleman's family social capital, financial capital, and academic achievement on the educational tracking postsecondary education schools, namely \"academic education system/vocational and technical education system\". The research data were retrieved from Taiwan Database of Children and Youth in Poverty which were released by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Family. The surveys were conducted right after the implementation of the 12-Year Basic Education at the year of 2011 and 2013 by the Taiwan Fund for Children and Family. The study included a total of 372 student samples who were enrolled in the postsecondary education schools at the time when the surveys were conducted at the year of 2011 and 2013. Logistic regression analysis was used to verify the effects of related factors to high school students' educational tracking. The major findings of this study are summarized a

This paper examines the determinants of countries that have won medals in WorldSkills Competitions, and examines factors that affect medal points in a competition in terms of four variables. The sample in this study consisted of 55 countries participating in WorldSkills Competitions, and data analysis was performed using multiple regression analysis. Data was gathered from three sources, namely the 2019 WorldSkills Competition results, World Bank, and The United Nations Development Programme, and this data included the value of industrial production, research and development expenditures, human development index, the proportion of vocational students, and the results of the WorldSkills Competition 2019. The results of this study are as follows: (1) A country's performance in WorldSkills Competitions (in terms of the number of medal points won) is positively correlated with the country's industrial production. (2) A country's performance in WorldSkills Competitions is positively correlated with its R&D expendi

The Analysis of Excess Competition Policy for High School Exam-free Enrollment in Chunghua, Yunlin and Chiayi School Districts
2015
This thesis aims at analyzing the excess competition policy for high school exam-free enrollment in Chunghua, Yunlin and Chiayi School Districts, through the research of data and materials related to the excess competition policy in 2014 and 2015 school years. There are five findings from the conclusion of this research. First, this research analyzes and compares items and their weights employed by these three school districts to rank students in the excess competition policy for the enrollment of general and vocational high schools. In 2015 school year, the major items ranked according to their weights for each school district are as the following. For Chunghua district, they are the score of the comprehensive assessment, the choice of high schools sorted by the student, service-learning grade, and enrollment priority by distance. Those for Yunlin district are the score of the comprehensive assessment, outstanding rewards, balanced learning accomplishments, and the choice of high schools. Major items adapted

The effects of employer-sponsored training on labor productivity
1994
The purpose of this study was to investigate to what extent a firm's investment in training might impact its labor productivity. Data were collected through a questionnaire developed by the investigator. All 237 large and medium auto parts firms in Taiwan were surveyed yielding a response rate of 68.4%. Multiple measures were used for both labor productivity (sales per worker and value-added per worker) and training investment (training vs. no training, total training cost, direct training cost, and percent of workers trained). An econometric model of the relationships between variables was developed and served as a fundamental basis for deriving multiple regression models. Statistical tests consisted of three tests in two phases. In the initial phase, the relationship between training and labor productivity was examined with statistical adjustment for three major control variables (capital, labor, and material). Results that were identified as significant were re-tested in the second phase by (1) statistically adjusting for a set of additional control variables that might have effects on labor productivity and (2) correcting for endogeneity, a contemporaneous correlation between the training variable and the error term in the multiple regression. As predicted in the conceptual framework of this study, the results showed a positive, significant relationship between training and labor productivity while statistically adjusting for the three major control variables. This relationship was robust when the set of additional control variables was entered into the model. Correcting for a possible endogeneity effect did not affect the effect size (indicated by the partial regression coefficient) of the relationship between training and labor productivity. The effect size (also known as elasticity of labor productivity with respect to training) was fairly consistent across all tests, ranging between.10 and.12. Hence, the findings of this study reveal the existence of a positive relationship between training and labor productivity at the firm level. These findings are particularly useful for training practitioners in establishing economic accountability of training in today's business world.
