Ethical Consideration for AI Implementation in Education
Objectives: The Education sector is rapidly implementing artificial intelligence (AI), as it provides several opportunities; however, it is also creating different challenges that can be overcome by critically examining the ethical considerations. Thus, this systematic review aimed to spotlight the ethical considerations for implementing AI in education (AIEED). Methodology: The review employed the PRISMA approach and presented a synthesis of 7 studies that not only explained the importance of AIEED but also addressed the ethical considerations associated with it. Results: Five studies were qualitative, and one was quantitative, providing detailed evidence of different core ethical approaches, ethical principles, and ethical considerations/concerns related to AI in education (AIE). Conclusion: AI is beneficial for the education sector, but its intensive use can lead to ethical issues and other challenges. Therefore, institutions must focus on the ethics of algorithms in education. Moreover, instead of considering AI as a substitute for humans, they must prioritize its privacy and transparency.
The Impact of Open Innovation on Firm Performance in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution
This study aims to ascertain whether implementing open innovation as a crucial source of competitive advantage positively influences performance. Additionally, it seeks to verify whether companies' utilization of big data analytics and artificial intelligence technologies positively moderates the relationship between open innovation and performance. This study used a structured questionnaire to collect data from a random final valid sample of 294 Jordanian companies operating in diverse industries. A simple and hierarchical regression was applied to verify the proposed hypotheses utilizing the SPSS V. 28 statistical program. The analysis suggests that open innovation execution positively impacts performance among sampled companies. Among the various technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, big data analysis does not have a positive moderating effect on the relationship between the two variables. In contrast, the utilization of artificial intelligence technology has a positive moderating effect on this relationship. In other words, companies investing effort and resources into open innovation may not see performance improvements when simultaneously implementing big data analytics. Conversely, the simultaneous implementation of artificial intelligence technology alongside open innovation may lead to higher performance outcomes. These findings offer insights into the importance of strategic decisions regarding technology adoption for enhancing performance in the context of open innovation.
Artificial Intelligence-Powered Posters for Better Scientific Research Skills
This study investigates how artificial intelligence-powered posters can enhance scientific research skills. Sixty-two students participated in the study. They were divided into two groups. The experimental group included 32 students, and the control group included 30 students. A test of scientific research skills was developed and applied to both groups twice, once at the beginning and the other at the end of the semester. During the semester, students of the experimental group created and presented artificial intelligence-powered posters to reflect the research skills they acquired during their enrollment in the Research Methodology Course, while the control group reflected their skills via doing the regular weekly assignments. An independent samples t-test was used to evaluate differences in the two administrations of the test. Findings showed that artificial intelligence-powered posters significantly enhanced the scientific research skills of the participants, though this effect is primarily demonstrated among undergraduates in a specific institutional setting.
Challenges in Implementing Artificial Intelligence Applications in Secondary-Level Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in education, with the potential to revolutionize teaching and learning. The researcher focus on this research study to investigate the specific challenges faced by secondary school teachers in Saudi Arabia when implementing AI applications in their classrooms, providing a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted hurdles they encounter. Through a rigorous survey, the study revealed the complex interplay of factors contributing to these challenges, including perceptions, resource limitations, technical support, and the broader educational context. The findings highlight the unrelenting need for comprehensive public policies, infrastructure investment, and tailored professional development to support educators in embracing AI effectively. By recognizing variations in challenges based on teaching experience, subject specialization, and AI tool usage, the study also highlights the contextual nature of AI implementation. These insights not only inform educational policies and practices in Saudi Arabia but also have broader implications for fostering inclusive, efficient, and innovative learning environments globally.
Technological Vigilance as an Input to Enhance the Competitive Advantage of Organizations in Light of Digital Transformation
This article aims to shed light on technological vigilance and its importance in enhancing the competitive advantage of Algerian enterprises. Within the framework of the shift towards the digital economy, from the point of view of the sociology of strategic action, considering that the institution is a social construct whose central component is the actor and the engine of all organizational processes and practices. Considering that the act of vigilance is a process linked to the actor and his perceptions of action in the face of the challenges facing institutions in light of competitiveness and the requirements of organizational change as inevitable. Our interest focused on the human element through the theory of strategic action to achieve technological vigilance, based on the analytical approach to interpret and understand the functional relationship between the elements of the subject. This research paper concluded the centrality of the social actor in organizational practices, and the importance of strategic action as it reflects the state of alertness among those concerned about their roles and status within the organizational system, and the opportunities it represents for accumulating capital. This includes embodying the process of technological awakening as a horizon for organizational practice.
International Legal Regulation of Artificial Intelligence
This study aims to know the international legal regulation of artificial intelligence as one of the outcomes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and as it affects all fields, especially technical and technological ones. This requires that technicians be informed of the legal aspects of artificial intelligence in order to avoid the negatives that may result from its uses, and to benefit from its positives and advantages. The study concluded that most international and national legislation related to artificial intelligence only addressed its characteristics and role in the contractual field, forgetting the most important aspect, which is the legal regulation of the technical aspect of artificial intelligence. As a double-edged sword, despite its increasing role in most areas of our daily lives, developing it in an irresponsible manner may place the fate of humanity in the hands of a force that does not see things from a human point of view.
The Impact of Financial Technology Innovation on Bank's Financial Performance
Purpose: Financial technology is now critical for each firm to ease and simplify commercial transactions. Due to the ongoing global debate regarding the relationship between FinTech and banks, including developing countries, the purpose of this study is to examine the efficiency of the banks in Egypt after the spread of FinTech. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study investigates the impact of bank-level Financial Technology (FinTech) innovations on banks' performance in Egypt. The shortage of studies in this field in Egypt is presented as the paper's concern. Financial statement data were used for a period from 2018-2022 from the CBE Egyptian bank with FinTech collaborations. Annual data of banks listed in EGX100 has been utilized to achieve this objective. Two alternative models with different combinations were developed, based on bank profitability, and bank stock returns to evaluate the banks' efficiency using SEM technique. Findings: A key finding of this study is the presence of a simultaneous positive change and causality between FinTech and bank stock returns. Furthermore, several other interesting findings were discovered: (1) the causal relationship from FinTech to bank profitability is insignificant. (2) Insignificant causality exists between different types of FinTech, such as influence from Dig Payment to Fin Profitability, from Dig Payment to Bank Return, from FinInc to Fin Profitability, from FinInc to Bank Return; and (3) there is an equal occurrence of simultaneous increase between certain types of FinTech and bank stock returns, specifically between Neo Bank and Bank Return, as well as TrsAcc and Bank Return. Research implications: This study contributes to the literature on the adoption status of FinTech services in Egypt and its impact on the banks' efficiency. This study shed light on the complex relationship between FinTech and banks, offering insights that contribute to the understanding of this dynamic interplay in the context of Egypt's emerging FinTech landscape. Originality/value: Egyptian banks need to find more innovative ways to accelerate the transforming of the Egyptian society into a non-monetary society. Policymakers and investors should pay close attention to facilitate ongoing FinTech innovations in Egypt to create opportunities and build a more inclusive and efficient financial sector.
