'Sopranos' sandwich revealed
by
Brandt, Linda
in
Adams, Marcia
2007
Mary Beth Brown e-mailed: \"In one of the last episodes of 'The Sopranos,' Carmela tries to entice her son with Lincoln Logs. From a distance, it looked as if it had something to do with hot dogs on a large sub bun, but beyond that, I couldn't figure it out. Do you have any information on this?\" I posted Brown's request to my blog and got this reply: \"After watching the 'Sopranos' episode when Anthony Jr. tries to drown himself in the pool, I saw this odd food that was called a Lincoln Log Sandwich. As a guy who knows a thing or two about lunch meat and sandwiches, I was stumped when my wife asked what that was. Here's what we found. Preheat oven to 400 or 425 F. Start with a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk. It must be sweetened, or it won't caramelize. Pour it into a 9-inch glass pie plate and cover tightly with foil. (Some recipes suggest adding a small pinch of sea salt.) Place pie plate in another, larger pan (a roasting pan will work) and add hot water to the outer pan until it comes halfway up the sides of the pie plate.

At that time, focus groups were held in Collingwood, Clearview, The Blue Mountains and Wasaga Beach, said Marcia Adams. Along with the survey, Adams will be contacting many organizations and stakeholders within the Georgian Triangle communities to gather information regarding programs and services under the needs identified. For example, in Collingwood she will be contacting the high schools and other agencies to find out what specific type of programming or facilities are available for youth. The survey will be available to people until the end of June, and drop-off boxes are set up at the Collingwood Public Library, the Wasaga Beach Public Library, L.E. Shore Memorial Library in Thornbury and the Clearview Public Library. People can also bring the completed questionnaires into the Community Connection office on First Street in Collingwood.

One of only a handful of sites beginning six days of operation, the Leeds Avenue DMV office drew drivers from throughout the Lowcountry. Some residents, such as Alfred Okeka of Sumter, once planned to miss work altogether to make a trip to the DMV. On Monday, driving records can be accessed online, said DMV spokesman Sid Gaulden; and by June 30, drivers should be able to renew their license online, waiving the vision test given to those who visit the office, said [Marcia Adams]. Fee payments and other transactions would also be made available.
