One man's 50-year love affair with his four-wheeled friends
2008
He said: \"An old wartime left-hand drive Willys Jeep came on to the estate and my father attached wooden blocks to the pedals and gave me lessons off-road. I could drive by the time I was seven.\" Mr [Duncan MacRae] can well remember the hairy trip back from Glasgow where he bought his first car - the Consul. \"There were no tyre tread regulations or MoTs in those days and the bald tyres were screeching on every corner,\" he said. The worst? A sporty rear-engined Renault Dauphine which had a habit of \"losing it\" on the twisty Highland roads.

Trustees study trades options to fill B.C. gap
by
Hewlett, Jason
in
MacRae, Duncan
2005
Trustees were unanimously in favour of a recommendation made by Duncan MacRae, a retired director of trades for the Ministry of Education, about how the district could prepare high school students for a trades career. MacRae recommended expanding Career Technical Centre programs to provide students with access to most of TRU's trades and technology programs. This would include choosing a specific school to host these programs as a joint-use facility. Because of the number of trades programs it already offers, MacRae said NorKam secondary would be well suited for the task. \"This is not small change,\" MacRae said. \"In regard to the equipment, I believe the trades sector would be forthcoming to help out, with matching dollars coming from Victoria.\"

Convenience in MT Minds
2008
The name is more than just a \"terrible pun,\" explains Evan Willms. \"The state of the empty mind is our goal,\" he said. He and partner Duncan MacRae's flagship product, Sprout, is designed to deliver articles of interest to clients based on their own preferences. \"What we're really offering is sort of an info-tainment,\" said Willms. \"We're trying to pull things that you're not going to find any other way, so it could be a New York Times article (or) on the other hand, it equally could be an indepth blog posting from someone you've never heard of ... We're not replacing things like your daily newspaper or your trade-specific magazine because those are very topically focused and we're drawing from a much bigger pool.\"
