LA POTESTAD DEL PAPA SEGÚN FRANCISCO DE VITORIA
ABSTRACT The main goal of this paper is to expound Francisco de Vitoria's doctrine about papal power, a topic not much discussed in the literature on Vitoria. The methodology has been the systematization of what Vitoria expounded in different works, especially in his Relections on the power of the Church, in the light of his more general political doctrines and of the differentiation, of Thomistic roots, between two types of communities, the natural and the supernatural, on the base of the two ends of man. The main conclusion of this work is that, on the one hand, Vitoria severely limits papal power in relation to previous authors and, on the other hand, he still acknowledges some residual papal temporal power, the indirect power. Sin embargo, parte de esta potestad sí puede tener su origen en el derecho natural o el positivo, en cuanto, incluso si no hay revelación, el ser humano se encuentra obligado a dar culto a Dios, y para ello debe instituir una potestad especial diversa de la política18, aun cuando dicha potestad espiritual, presente en los paganos y ejercida por sus sacerdotes y pontífices, no genere los efectos espirituales propios de la potestad espiritual establecida por Dios19. Y la conclusión a la que llega una y otra vez el autor al ir estudiando los diferentes casos es la misma: los curiales pertenecían normalmente a los estratos intermedios del clero. Sin embargo, el libro da un paso más y se adentra en lo menos legal, es decir, el complejo mundo de la correduría y especulación con los beneficios eclesiásticos. Sin embargo, me surge la duda de hasta qué punto la venalidad de las prebendas, demos-trada por Díaz Rodríguez en el capítulo tercero, se mantuvo sin cambios durante el siglo XVII y la primera mitad del XVIII. Sin duda, buena parte de su mérito radica en la ingente cantidad de documentación de archivo utilizada en su elaboración: protocolos notariales españoles y romanos, pleitos en las Chancillerías, registros de letras apostólicas, actas capitulares, correspondencia diplomática, alegaciones fiscales, obras literarias, etc.

Za vznikem premisy o negativním postoji kurie k novému médiu stojí nejen srovnání s progresivitou reformačních vůdců ve vztahu ke knihtisku, ale i výrazné soustředění katolické kurie na represivní oblast dobové knižní kultury - tj. kontrolu italského knižního obchodu, na kterou se kurie zaměřovala již od konce 15. století. Paolo Sachet díky nově objeveným pramenům provedl pro tento \"řecký experiment\" excelentní mikroanalýzu, která osvětluje fungování celého projektu včetně jeho financování a individuální role jednotlivých aktérů. Po této zkušenosti Cervini rezignoval na trvalé spojení s konkrétní tiskárnou a pro své záměry flexibilně využíval různé tiskaře, a to i mimo Řím (Benátky, Boloňa, Florencie) a Itálii (Kolín nad Rýnem, Basilej a Paříž). Dalším charakteristickým příkladem zdlouhavé realizace bylo i první oficiální vydání katolické Vulgáty, kterou tridentský koncil určil jako jedinou povolenou verzi bible. Pope Gregory IX (1227-1241): Power and Authority
As Cardinal Hugo and as pope, Gregory was one of the dominant figures in the history of the papacy of the High Middle Ages. Coming to prominence under Pope Innocent III, Hugo played an important political role, particularly as legate on various occasions, as well as being a major promoter of the new religious orders. As pope, his battle with Emperor Frederick II is one of medieval history's most absorbing conflicts. But he also acted as peacemaker, promoter of the Crusades, instigator of mission for the sake of conversion, reformer of the Curia, patron of arts and liturgy, and as a passionate advocate of Church reform. His decretal collection, the Liber Extra, was the most influential of the Middle Ages. A full examination of Gregory's pontificate is very long overdue. EL RETORNO A LA OBEDIENCIA DE JUAN I: LA REINSTAURACIÓN DE LAS DÉCIMAS PONTIFICIAS (1387-1393)
Resumen En 1387, el papa aviñonense Clemente VII promulgó tres décimas pontificias en la Corona de Aragón que debían servir para sufragar los gastos que ocasionaban las revueltas en Cerdeña. Parte de la colecta se destinó al rey aragonés Juan I que acababa de acceder al trono tras la muerte de su padre. Se desmarcaba así de su predecesor, quien se había incautado durante nueve años de las rentas de la Cámara Apostólica. En este artículo se estudia el retorno a la obediencia de Juan I y la reinstauración progresiva del aparato fiscal y financiero pontificio en la Corona de Aragón a través de la recaudación y gestión del tributo de la décima papal.
