تتفرد رواية (محمد الرطيان) \"ما تبقى من أوراق محمد الوطبان\" بجدتها، وحداثة موضوعها، واتساع رؤيتها، وإتقانها للتركيب التجريبي، فهي ترسم أجواء سردية مختلفة ومبتكرة في نص بحميمية ودفء الخصوصية الملازم لكتابة الأوراق الشخصية بأسلوب بسيط ومرح، لكنه أسلوب ساخر ومرير، ورغم لجوء الكاتب إلى التقطيع ونبذ التسلسل التقليدي، إلا أن بناء الرواية جاء متماسكا لم يعتوره أي خلل يصيب القارئ بالنكوص، مما يدل على وعي كتابي متقدم لا ينبهر بلعبة الشكل أو يفرط بجوهر العمل، وتقع اللعبة السردية التي تدفع النص إلى التأرجح بين عالم الواقع والخيال في قلب النص، لتبقيه في حالة تأرجح حتى النهاية بين الخطر وبين الأمان.
