هذه الرواية عرض لنظرية أو نامونو في الواقع واللا واقع، في الحقيقة والحلم.. وأسئلة أخرى عن الإنسان، بصورة رواية كثيرة الاستطرادات واللواحق ثلث الكتاب تقريبا (أم رواية من جملة أبطالها-إذا كان ما يزال تمة معنى هنالك لكلمة بطل-المشكلات هذه، وما المقدمات واللواحق سوى طرق في الرد ؟ خذ بالرأي الثاني ولا تتردد، ولكن بعد أن تسقط من ذاكرتك نماذج الرواية التي تعرف، إن عنوان (ضباب) يحيل إلى كالديرون (الحياة حلم) لأن وقائع ضباب الواضحة جدا تتم في منطقة لا هي الحلم ولا هي الواقع ولا بينهما.
