تتناول رواية (ظل الريح) والتي قام بتأليفها (كارلوس زافون) في حوالي (527) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (القصص الإسبانية)، رواية لا تقاوم حصلت في زمن قصير على ثناء شامل في كل العالم. وتضمنت من الأسرار والخفايا ما جعلها مغوية مثل دمی الماتريوشكا الروسية استطاع کارلوس زافون أن يجمع بين غارثيا ماركيز وأمبرتو إيكو وخورخي لويس بورخيس في مشهد ساحر ومعقد ببراعة ثاقبة وكتابة عجيبة. يقال إن الأدب القوطي الرفيع قد اندثر في القرن التاسع عشر، في حين يغير هذا الكتاب فكرتنا تماما. إذ يتمكن زافون من سرد حكاية ملحمية تحبس الأنفاس وتورط القاريء في طلاسمها بمتعة قل مثيلها. من الصعب أن يعثر القاريء على رواية تحتوي على هذا القدر من العواطف والمآسي والإثارة مثل رواية ظل الريح. ستقرأ الرواية في جلسة واحدة ولن تنام الليل وأنت تتعقب ظل الريح، لن يسمح لك زافون بأن تترك الكتاب قبل أن تبلغ النهاية.
