رواية \"الانتباه\" هذه أثارت عند صدورها ضجة كبيرة في الندوات وبين النقاد لا سيما وأن مورافيا طرح فيها لأول مرة مشكلة الكاتب الروائي أمام أبطاله وكيف ينبغي له أن يواجه واقعهم وواقعه أيكون صادقا مئة بالمئة أم يحور في هذا الواقع؟ كل ذلك يرويه مورافيا من خلال قصة غرام مثيرة قصة صحفي يمل زوجته فيهجرها ويسافر في رحلات طويلة وحين يعود يكشف أن زوجته تدير \"بيتا للمواعيد\" كما يكتشف أن ابنتها من علاقة أولى غير شرعية قد كبرت وأصبحت جميلة فإذا بالصحفي الزوج يقع في غرام الابنة.
