Overview
Three works of fiction by and for lesbians are analyzed in terms of their use of the crossdressing plot. The works question the performative aspect of sex roles through the awareness that two women can live together and yet not divulge their same-sex relationship. The butch is emphasized in the works as representing the deception required for a successful marriage-like relationship.
