Nurses have an unmatched presence in a range of healthcare settings, and can extend their services well beyond the boundaries of the acute system. By doing so, they can help healthcare providers meet the Millennium Development Goals set by the United Nations, for example by improving care for Indigenous Australians and those living in remote areas.
