Overview
Machine translation is currently making huge progress and it is hard to imagine a translator's everyday life with-out it. Currently, there are three world-renowned translation programmes available for free translations: Google Translator, Microsoft Translator and Deepl, the latter of which offers translation services in a smaller number of languages that do not include Arabic. For Arabic as a source or target language, only Google Translator and Microsoft Translator are available: 1. Google Translator: According to its own information, this programme currently (as of 2022) offers 109 languages and can translate long sentences and texts (for the language pair Ger-man/Arabic). 2 Microsoft Translator is also an automatic translator for several languages, including German and Arabic. Due to numerous advantages, but also specific problems such as data protection, literal, context-independent translations, culture-specific gaps, idiomatic errors, etc., machine translations are judged differently depending on their purpose and should or sometimes must be reworked, i.e. post-edited, before they are used. This has given rise to a new [translation] activity, namely \"post-editing\", which is discussed in more detail in this article.
