Overview
In this symposium contribution, I argue that Francisco Suarez's understanding of the community's development of \"permissive natural law\" related to economic activity provides a useful and creative interjection into discussions of the goals of businesses and economic activity. While good civil laws can provide a baseline for economic justice and the common good, they cannot replace the necessary communal discernment of the good made possible by the market.
