Overview
This article presents the main results of a new indicators system to measure overqualification among the employed through an specific treatment of the Spanish Labour Force Survey. In the first section, the main concepts related to overqualification are defined and the author exposes his perspective. In the second section, the characteristics of the indicators system are defined. In the third section the main results are exposed: the absolute and relative relevance of overqualification is stated; also its growth during the last years; its recent stabilization among young people, parallel to its growth among adult people; and its different evolution depending on the young people's sex. In the conclusion, overqualification is re-contextualised within globalisation and possible solutions to this problematic are discussed. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
