يضم الكتاب تراجم موجزة لعدة آلاف من اعلام المهاجرين اليمنيين وأحفادهم وقبائلهم وبطون وأفخاد وفروع تلك القبائل. وقد رتبت أسماء الإعلام والقبائل في الكتاب على ترتيب حروف الهجاء ليسهل الرجوع إليهم لدى الدارسين كذلك يورد مؤلف الكتاب مؤلفات أولئك الآعلام التي ترجمت إلى اللغات الأجنبية، وكذا الدراسات التي وضعت عن العديد منهم، مع ضبط الأسماء ضمنا في هذا العمل.
