كتاب (يتيمة الدهر في محاسن أهل العصر) لصاحبه (أبي منصور الثعالبي) ويعد هذا الكتاب من أوفى المراجع الأدبية لمن أراد أن يدرس الشعر العربي، ولمن أراد أن يدرس الحالة الاجتماعية والسياسية من طريق النتاج الأدبي في القرن الرابع وصدر من القرن الخامس الهجري، كما اهتم بطبقات الأفاضل من الملوك والرؤساء، وعني بتأثيرهم في الأدب، وما كان من إنتاجهم الأدبي الخالص، وما يتعلق بذلك من الأخبار والنوادر وغرر الألفاظ. وقد قام الأستاذ العلامة (محمد محيي الدين عبد الحميد) عالم اللغة، بتحقيق نصوص هذا الكتاب، وتقويم ما اعوج منها بفعل الناسخين، والناشرين، وقام بمراجعته على أصوله المخطوطة، كما شرح ما دعت الحاجة إلى شرحه، خدمة منه للعربية وأهلها.
