If opportunity knocks only once, Dillon Supply has the equipment to take advantage of it. A one-stop source, the company distributes all kinds of industrial, construction, and materials handling equipment. To do so, its work is divided between several divisions. Industrial sells industrial valves, pipe, welding supplies, cutting tools and industrial coatings, while Safety offers steel products (carbon steel, alloys, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics). Other divisions include Storage and Handling, Inventory Management, and Forklift. Founded in 1914, Dillon Supply operates as a subsidiary of French supply giant Descours Et Cabaud.
Tour will test the mettle
[Michele Bachmann], who has not officially announced her candidacy, said in an interview with MinnPost.com last week that she would \"take a close look at the gold standard issue\" but was participating in the bus tour because she agrees with \"a number of important principles\" espoused by the groups. Ryan Rhodes, chairman of the Iowa Tea Party, said the other primary goal of the tour is to educate members of the Tea Party about the basics of grass-roots activism in advance of the Iowa caucus, now scheduled for February. \"We are trying to train the Tea Party, and we also want the candidates to answer questions about gold,\" Rhodes said. \"When we started working on the gold standard a year ago, the responses we'd get was 'isn't that sort of horse and buggy and clipper ships,'\" he said.
Dynamic ads put firms in the game
\"They would rather see real life when the game itself is reality- based,\" [Jeff Bell] said. That's why you see Cadillac featured prominently in \"Project Gotham Racing 3\" and Nissan in the recent \"Forza 2.\" The impact of the advertising can be dramatic, especially for automotive advertisers, he said. \"Gaming in the past was traditionally for the hard-core gamer,\" said Vanessa Kelley, manager of Chrysler Interactive and Cross Brand Gaming. \"It's come full circle -- it reaches a much larger audience. It's a natural evolution of traditional marketing. That's why we did it.\" \"Cars are naturally part of video game culture,\" he said. As a result, car companies got into the game advertising business early. \"Video games have fostered a culture of helping to determine what is cool. Automotive is a big advertiser. They can spare a little bit of money to experiment. They have been interested in reaching young people.\"
Jeep row, row rows its way to a new SUV
With the 2006 Commander, Jeep now has an SUV that offers three rows of seats. The third isn't the easiest row to get to or the most spacious once there and it leaves precious little room for luggage, groceries or golf clubs when in use. Commander is first up in a major expansion of the Jeep line that for now offers Wrangler, Liberty and Grand Cherokee. Spy shots have shown a four-door Wrangler is in the works. And early next year, Chrysler Group's Belvidere assembly plant will start producing the Dodge Caliber, with a couple small SUV derivatives, the Compass and Patriot, expected soon after for the Jeep lineup. PLUSES: Finally the long-awaited Jeep with three rows of seats without being a monster to maneuver. Stability control standard. Second- and third-row seats fold flat for lots of cargo capacity. Overhead skylights for second row passengers. Hemi V-8 for no- hesitation power and performance.
Jeep, Mustang grow in size, muscle power
Commander is derived from Grand Cherokee. [Jeff Bell] said the decision not to offer a huge SUV and instead derive one off Grand Cherokee was a matter of economics. Commander will be offered in two-wheel-drive or a choice of three four-wheel-drive systems, with a choice of the engines now in Grand Cherokee: a 3.7-liter V-6, 4.7-liter V-8 and 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. Bell says Commander has a \"heritage design\" that borrows styling cues from the 1946-62 Willys Jeep station wagon, 1963-91 Wagoneer and 1984-2001 Cherokee, so it \"looks familiar and new at the same time.\"
Centrica warns on profits after Britons turn off the heating
The energy giant had already warned on profits in May as it took in the impact of a particularly cold spell in the US - where Centrica runs the Direct Energy brand - and the mild British weather at the start of the year. \"We've seen consistently warmer weather through the autumn than normal. By some measures it's the warmest on record,\" said Centrica's acting chief finance officer, Jeff Bell. \"Second, there was the problem with the nuclear spines.\"
Bell looking forward to playing next level at Santa Fe State College
\"I actually had a college coach tell me I'd never play in college,\" [Jeff Bell] said. \"That kind of fired me up and drove me all year. Coach (Dale) Hall told me not to worry about it and he'd find me something.\" \"I'm just going to remember all of the good times we had,\" Bell said. \"It was a pleasure playing for such a great program. Coach Hall is the greatest coach I've ever had.\" \"I've been playing with them for four years,\" Bell said. \"It'll be fun to go against them at the next level.\"
