Overview
في نهاية الحرب العالمية الثانية في ألبانيا، في قرية تديرها أربع عائلات، استولى رجل على مدفع تركه الجيش الإيطالي المهزوم. يجب أن يكون هذا المدفع أداة انتقامه. يُظهر لنا الرجل ذو المدفع دولة ألبانيا في فترة حاسمة من تاريخها حيث بلغت التوترات ذروتها. إن الصراع الذي يضع القوميين ضد الشيوعيين والجميع ضد الجيوش الأجنبية (هروب إيطاليا والعام النازي الذي يهدد)، يمتزج بالصراع الذي من الثأر إلى الثأر، يضع العائلات الرئيسية في القرية ضد بعضها البعض. في هذا المجتمع الذي على وشك الانهيار، لا يفقد دريترو آغوللي أبطاله. إن العواطف ليست سياسية أو عسكرية فحسب، بل إنها أيضا منظور المشاعر بأكمله الذي ينير هذه الرواية الرائعة.
