Brian Redman : daring drivers, deadly tracks
Brian Redman is one of very few notable British racing drivers whose racing life has yet to be put on record in book form. Now that is about to be rectified. Packed with photographs, Redman's memoir is a vivid account of his varied racing exploits, with special focus on the period when he won major sports car races in Ford GT40s, Porsche 908s and 917s, and Ferrari 312PBs, and also became North American Formula 5000 champion three years running. Highly readable, and at times both humorous and poignant, this is a very personal book that will be welcomed by this popular and highly respected driver's legions of fans.
Idle Chatter: Brian Redman
2009
She must've put up with a lot.\"The times when I was injured and she'd fly out to foreign countries, not knowing how I was. The time she had to go to Canada, in 1977, when my car took off at 170 miles an hour and came down upside down from 40 feet. Broke my neck, my shoulder, split my sternum, broke my ribs and the ambulance blew a tire on the way to the hospital. The headline in the Montreal paper was '[Brian Redman] is dead,' with a picture of the two guys working on the wheel and me lying in the back.\" It was Winston Churchill who once said, 'The United Kingdom and America are two great countries, divided by the same language.' \"

Redman, Brian
2005
Within a year, 3 Inches of Blood has gained popularity through its 2004 Roadrunner Records release \"Advance and Vanquish.\" It is the group's sophomore album, following 2001's independently- released \"Battlecry Under a Winter Sun.\" The group's biggest hit, \"Deadly Sinners,\" from the latest album, is about true heavy metal fans bonding together to fight the evils of phony, commercialized, poseur metal. \"It's a call to arms anthem for metallers today,\" [Brian Redman] said. \"With all of the nu-metal (junk) going around and different breeds of metal coming out, there's just so much that people consider false metal. 'Deadly Sinners' is a call to arms to stand tall against the Stainds and Linkin Parks.\" That joyous evening was somewhat of a rarity, Redman said, because 3 Inches of Blood don't necessarily live the road lives of Motley Crue or any other crash-and-burn bands.

Fighting back . . . shop owner ruined by mix-up over names 'Bankruptcy is tough - you lose it all and no one wants to know you'
by
Hall, Clare
in
Redman, Brian
2001
[Brian Redman] says: 'Bankruptcy is tough because you lose everything and once that happens, no one wants to know you. But you have to fight back.' There are many myths about bankruptcy, according to debt adviser DebtCall's insolvency practitioner, Jim Gibson, which is why people arefrightened of it. But in some situations it can be a good option. It can take up to five years to recover from bankruptcy, but as money adviser Cy Nawroze of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux says: 'Bankruptcy gives you freedom from your debts and there is an end in sight.' If debts are 20,000 or less, bankruptcy lasts for two years. If they are more, it lasts for three years. But if you have been made bankrupt before, the period is five years. An IVA is a formal arrangement in which the debtor agrees to repay creditors over a fixed period typically five years. The arrangement is most suitable for anyone with some income to spare but not enough to repay the entire debt.

[Brian Redman], a three-time Formula 5000 champ and veteran of all sorts of road racing, knows the answer to his question. \"There was one theory that these are wonderful heirlooms, irreplaceable, and they shouldn't be raced,\" Redman said. \"Well that's all changed now. People race hard, and really, even a very valuable car . . . whatever happens to a car in terms of damage can be repaired.\" Indy-car notebook: A look at the statistics through 11 races shows that Michael Andretti has led the most laps (333 of 1,387), and PPG Cup leader Jacques Villeneuve has led the final lap the most times (three). The driver who has been around at the finish most often is 10th-place Mauricio Gugelmin (10 times), and consequently he's completed the most laps (1,332). . . . Second-place Bobby Rahal has led twice for two laps and has a top finish of second place.
